About this programme
The European Research Area (ERA) aims to create a nonrestrictive market for research, innovation, and technology across all of Europe. This program allows countries to have more collaboration and align their programs and research together which creates free circulation of knowledge across Europe.
The European Commission is focusing on a new plan for the ERA due to the major economic and academic challenges that have been felt from the Covid-19 Pandemic. Rebuilding will need to happen post-pandemic and it needs to be built back better. This includes focusing on green and digital transitions within the program.
The ERA plans to do this with three actions: Establishment of a new ERA governance, adoption of a pact for research and innovation in Europe, and an ERA Policy Agenda with concrete actions.
